Meet the Facilitator

Cassi Starc, Registered Occupational Therapist

Cassi is an Occupational Therapist and Mindfulness Teacher. She aims to educate and empower her clients, so they can take an active role in returning to what they need or want to do.

Her main areas of practice include concussion and mental health.

Providing high quality education and mentorship is a particular area of interest for Cassi. She has mentored students, new graduates, and experienced clinicians transitioning to new areas of practice. She has created and facilitated mental health skill-building groups.

Cassi is a member of the CAOT Network for Addressing Suicide in Practice and has presented locally and nationally on the topic. She continues to build courses like this one to support and empower clients and fellow healthcare workers alike.

Evaluation

There will be an application package with case studies and questions relevant to each module. You can submit this to the course instructor via video or written documentation and receive feedback relevant to your clinical practice. This is optional!


At the conclusion of this event, AMP Healthcare Education will collect participant evaluations of the overall learning experience.

Participants will be awarded a certificate of completion from AMP Healthcare Education.

Target Audience

This course is designed for ANY Healthcare Provider looking for practical strategies to bring trauma-informed care into their practice.

No expertise or previous learning in the content area is required.

Workshop Schedule

Module 1: Understanding Trauma & The Brain (2-hr live online class)
Recognize the signs & symptoms of trauma and trauma-related disorders
Define the most common trauma related disorders
Describe the neurobiology of trauma and its implications for treatment approaches using a variety of metaphors, visuals, and multimedia resources to match your clients learning styles
Educate your clients on the key components of trauma using evidence-based sources

Module 2: A Practical Guide to Trauma Informed Care (2-hr live online class)
Recognize the prevalence of trauma in the general public.
Identify the signs & symptoms of trauma.
Describe the six core principles of TIC and associated practical actions.
Choose practical strategies for a trauma-informed care practice.

Module 3: Trauma Assessment & Treatment (2-hr live online class)
Practice interpretation of evidence-based trauma-related screens and assessments.
Order and grade interventions in your treatment plan through a trauma-lens.
Apply trauma treatment guidelines to your own scope through application to case studies.

Module 4: Self-Care for Healthcare Providers (2 hr live-online class)
Identify the trauma exposure response within the context of your own life. 
Choose effective self-care tools to mitigate trauma exposure response that work for you.
Summarize relevant interventions within a “Self-Care Plan”.

Module 5: Application to Case Studies (Asynchronous)
You will then be able to select a relevant case study and work through application questions to integrate your learning. You may submit your application to hello@youflourish.ca for feedback to support your application of the materials covered into your own practice.

Cancellation Policy

AMP Healthcare Education reserves the right to cancel a workshop due to insufficient registration. AMP Healthcare Education will notify participants of cancellation due to insufficient registration on or before one month prior to the start date of any live course.

AMP Healthcare Education reserves the right to modify, interrupt, change, or cancel the offering due to the presenter no longer being able to present the Workshop, severe weather, power failure, building closures or other special circumstances that are beyond the control of AMP Healthcare Education.

We will notify participants of any such changes as soon as possible. 

If the Workshop is cancelled by us due to insufficient registration or other circumstances outside of the control of AMP Healthcare Education, registrants will receive a full refund of their registration fee. It can take 5-10 business days to process the refund once it is issued.

AMP Healthcare Education will not be responsible for other costs or expenses incurred by registrants as a result of any such changes.
